The Wheel of Fortune is a recurring image in mythology. What comes up must go down. What goes down will eventually turn back towards the sun. This card represents that kind of karma, and when it is upright, the Wheel is turning in your favor. Lucky events will occur or are occurring.
When reversed, this card indicates that the wheel is turning against you. Perhaps you used to be on top; now you are descending towards the bottom, but it will be a transient state. One thing about the wheel turning against you is that it isn’t a helpless state; it is possible to overcome the wheel’s forces, like a salmon swimming upstream. There are great rewards if you do. The Wheel of Fortune reversed can also mean closure.
