The Knight of Swords

Wanna fight about it?

Upright

The person who strikes: skilled, and wants to charge in. A need to develop patience.

Reversed

All talk, charging without understanding.

Knights can represent people, or more commonly, influences. In both cases, the Knight of Swords represents action, and the desire to CHARGE!!

This Knight is the one who strikes. This is the suit of intellect and action, so let’s consider that this person is probably quite skilled, but rigid and fighty. They are willign to go to battle for their hard-won intellectual beliefs. They are the kind of person filled with the energy of having learned someting, and they want to charge in and talk about it! IMO, this is the court card most prone to the Dunning-Kruger effect.

As an influence, fight energy begets more fight energy. The Knight of Swords brings conflicts and disruptive revelations. To counter this, try not to be a bad version of the Knight of Swords. Don’t charge in without thinking! Try waiting, or wait out the bad knight energy until your mind is clear and balanced.

When reversed, the Knight could indicate that someone with Knight-like qualities is negatively influencing the querent. It could also mean that someone is acting like the Knight on a particularly bad day: all talk or extravagance, and charging without taking stock of the situation. Someone may be shouting from the top of “Mount Stupid.” Is it you?
